Moon: My prince charming.
I've had Moon for about a year now. He was kind-of a late Christmas present. He's just about perfect, despite the fact that he's still a baby. He's only 5. I ride in an academy program for eventers. Moon and I train just about everyday. Nothing makes me as happy as riding.

This is my Mom and Dad.
Mom loves horses as much as I do.
Dad, on the other hand, doesn't get it.
The Ranch Horses.
Well, they don't do much ranch work, but we think of them as the ranch horses because they're not eventers like Moon. But they do other stuff. We have great trail rides and work in the arena. And they eat. And eat. And take naps in the sun, and all the while we love them.
Pharaoh & Keiki: The Tag Team.
(Pharoah is the dark horse on the left, Keiki is the paint on the right.) Mom really loves Pharoah. He's our only Arabian in a group of quarter horses. He's athletic and smart, maybe too smart for his own good. He has an endurance background, and is equipped with lots and lots of energy. He is, after all, an Arabian! Nothing wears him out. Cantering on him is the most amazing feeling. It's a completely different feel than cantering on the quarter horses. There's so much power coming from his back end, and it feels like his front end is coming up a bit, but once you get used to it it's an unreal feeling. Pharaoh is the only horse to winnie everytime he sees us come into the barn or pasture. He makes us feel loved when he says hello. The paint in the photo is Keiki. Look at her face! Isn't she the cutest? She might be our sweetest horse. She's also the youngest. When she first came to us she had a little rearing habit, but a couple of days with our trainer/friend Shawn (more on him later) changed that. Now, she really doesn't have any bad habits and she is so fun to ride. She always tries so hard, and she has such a sweet personality. She's quite a slow eater. When we grain the horses the others all finish when she's less than half done, so we have to make sure the others can't get to her grain. (Maverick especially, he's the boss and the fastest eater.) She's our sweet girl. We love her!Maverick: The Boss Man.
He's the boss. He's also the most stubborn. He loves his grain. Once when my mom was graining the horses Maverick kicked at another horse and ended up kicking my mom in the hip. He broke the cell phone that was in her front pocket and my mom had a hoof-print shaped bruise for a few weeks! He has a really strong personality. Sometimes when you ask him to canter he'll give you a little crow hop, just to let you know that although he will canter, he'd really rather not. He has the world's messiest mane. No amount of grooming will make his mane go to one side or the other, but we think it gives him character. After all, if you're the tough guy you can't have a pretty, tidy mane. It just doesn't work with the image. He and Lady are good friends. Lady is the only horse he'll let eat out of his grain bucket. That's a sign of true love. (She's the palomino behind Maverick in this photo.) Maverick is our tough guy and we adore him!
Lady: Equus Perfectus.
If you're lucky you might know one or maybe two perfect horses in your lifetime, Lady is perfect. She's done lots of different things, from ranch stuff to english jumping. She is multi-talented and like I said, perfect. You can trust her in any situation. She has the most beautiful dark golden coloring in the summer, and in winter she fades quite a bit and turns a light golden color. We like to say that she gets a summer tan every year. Everywhere she goes people comment on how beautiful she is. Maverick has a crush on her, and we can see why. She loves to eat. When all of the others horses are full and stop eating Lady goes on and on. She likes to get every last bite. (Except carrots, she won't touch them.) She is terrified of moose. We always hope we don't run into any when we are riding her. Big bulls don't bother her, but moose do.
Tigger: The Curious X-Race Horse.
Tigger's playful. He's a big kid. He's always curious. He loves treats. Especially cookies. He smells your pockets in hopes that there are cookies inside. (There usally are!) He and Pharaoh play games. They take turns nipping at each other and then running away. They play for hours. Pharaoh usually gets tired of playing long before Tigger. Tigger once raced and loves to run. He belongs to Elle, who also loves horses, especially Tigger.
