A horse is rescued.

Ted.jpgI participate in a site called starponyz.

It's basically on online community of girls who love horses. One of them shared this amazing story of how she came to rescue her horse named Ted.

"2 and a half years ago, Ted was being starved in a round pen knee deep in mud by his old owners who also beat him in the face with a crop. A girl working at the barn I go to picked him up to be leased at our barn for 2 years. We got him back up to a good weight and I worked him everyday. We tried calling ASPCA on his owners but they never called or visited and changed their number and address. They never came out and saw him so we thought they had abandoned him and the barn was going to give him to me because I was the only one who could ride him and I worked with him everyday. 6 months after his lease was up they called the barn manager and told him to take their horse to a new barn they would be boarding him at. He was gone for 9 months. I cried all the time. One day a friend from work asked me to come with her to look at a project horse with her and as a surprise, it was Ted. His owners had abondoned him and stopped paying board. So I came back the next weekend and bought him for the price of the board they didnt pay. Now he is back at the barn again and happier than ever!"

In Colorado, from what I understand, you can't seize a horse for unpaid board. You must go to the court, get a lien, then send the horse to auction and buy him there to get clear title and brand inspection. My trainer has had two people stop paying board on horses. Rather than risk a horse she was fond of going to the killers she managed to arrange for both horses to be rehomed: one she managed to get the owner out to sign the transfer to a good horse rescue group, and the other she managed to get the owner out to sign the horse over to a family whose daughter rode with her, who had become fond of the horse. I think she took the hit on four to six months board (and a vet bill or two) in the first case, but I think the family in the second case paid the board that was in arrears.

I'm glad that Ted finally has someone to love and care for him.
That is a very cool story! Ted really knew he found someone special in you right from the start I can tell. And now your together for good. Love it when that happens!

Thanks so much for posting this about the love of my life Ted. It makes me so happy to know that things really do happen for a reason. I thank God everyday for him coming back into my life. Just recently we started taking Dressage lessons together and our goal is to show in the fall. Wish us luck! If you have a story similar to mine, I'd love to here it. I have an account on starponyz.com. The username is TisWintry or just email me! Thanks for reading up on Teds story!
