Horse soccer: A poor mans polo.

horse%20soccer.jpg Equine Mine told us about "Horse Soccer". We haven't tried this ourselves. In the photos they are using a big green ball which our horses would probably think was a big green monster, at least in the beginning. The site mentions that it's great for desensitizing and building certainty. Anyone ever tried it?

Although I've never played with other folks, we have kicked around the big green ball. It is great fun and yes, an excellent way for desensitizing.

I used ones I got when i had physical therapy for my back. I played with it a few times (mostly chasing after it on the ground). Then I left it in the stall with the horse (my horses don't eat anything, so I can do that-not appropriate for all horses). Now we never have a problem at trail days or trail classes! Besides the horses can get a kick out of running after the ball.
Wow! That looks like a lot of fun!!! I'm doing camps this summer and that looks like a great activity to try. Any other fun ideas??? Also I wanted to say thank you for stopping by my blog and all the kind words.

I used to think that "poor man's polo" used old bicycles. Which pretty soon became mangled in the inevitable wrecks. We should have found horses, it would have been safer and just as much fun.
If I can round up enough players, I want to try this someday. Lookout Beckham!
