How much does your horse weigh?

HorseWeightMes-1.jpgMy uncle has horse scales on the ranch. It's really fun to guess what each horse weighs and then put them on the actual scales. We don't have horse scales, so I decided to try this method. Estimate your horse or pony's WEIGHT.

You will need to know the girth and the length from shoulder to buttocks, and you can use centimeters or inches.

One thing I do know, no matter how much your horse actually weighs, when he is standing on your foot it feels like he weighs about twice what he really does.

Maverick's not a huge horse, (well, he does have a little bit of a belly) but when he stands on my foot I could swear he's a clydesdale.

JL and I once had a debate on how much the average horse weighs. I won by calling Gramsie and being much, much closer.

Let me guess, JL probably thought they weigh much more than they really do. Am I right?

Boy, I'[m with you about it being twice as much when the horse is on your foot. My foot hurts just thinking about it.
Ouch, my Tennessee Walker stepped on my foot and broke it last year, I will not make that mistake again, so I really know what you mean !
