And the winner is....chestnut.

chestnut horse.jpgWe like chestnuts. Maverick's a chestnut, (although some in the family argue that he's a sorrel.) Tigger's a chestnut.

But the truth is we like all horses. If you drive up to the ranch you'll likely see a bay, two chestnuts, (or sorrel, as the case may be,) a paint and a palomino. It's a gorgeous sight. We love them all.

During the summer when we take a certain route, we ride by a house with three matching buckskins. Another with three paints, and yet another with four chestnuts, all with almost identical blazes.
We also ride by a house with camels on that route, but that's another post.

So, here's a small tribute to chestnuts. (And sorrels, palominos, greys, etc.)

Since my new baby is a light bay I'd have to say that's my favorite at the moment, although there is something about jet black horses and the light colors...there is just no choosing. I rode a flea-bitten grey today and he was just beautiful.

I didn't even vote and my favorite color won! For practical purposes a liver chesnut with no white feet is my favorite. Very easy to clean. :)
