Moon's Moods.

Moon's Moods.jpgA big part of riding is the relationship you develop with your horse. Over the past year I've developed a special one with Moon.

Moon is a great horse and loves his job. He especially loves cross country. But there are moments when he's a little tired, or just the opposite, has so much energy that he just wants to race across the arena bucking. Wouldn't it be great if horses turned colors so you could easily understand their mood at just a glance? Here's what I think Moon would tell me with his colors.

Blue: Moon is happy and ready to listen. Wants to be my friend. Collected and on the bit. Softened. Dream horse.

Pink: Moon is full of himself and life. High likelyhood of bucking. Will sail over jumps today, no matter how many or how high. Wants to gallop.

Yellow: Moon is tired, in need of a nap. Good day for extra treats and pampering.

Green: Moon is sassy. Has lots of questions. Wants to keep his head up all day. Doesn't feel like doing dressage.

Of course I have moods too. Maybe Moon wishes he could tell what my mood was at a glance.

This reminds me of the mood rings I used to wear in the early 80's. Perhaps you're onto something her--a mood-bridle to indicate if your horse if feeling frisky, mellow, or just wants more peppermint!
