Barn Blackout.

dark horse.jpgToday I had a great dressage lesson. Moon was so good! Last week I used draw reins for the first time ever, but this week he was really good and didn't need them.

Moon worked hard and got really sweaty, so it took a long time for me to cool him off. Just as he was getting cool all the lights went out in the barn and tack room. Instant darkness. All of us just stood there, with our horses. No one wanted to move for fear of running someone else over.

Finally, someone pulled up to the barn in their car and used their headlights to shine some light around. Phew. That made it safe to move around. All of us scrambled to get our horses taken care of and tack put away.

The barn's pretty creepy when it's dark. Everyone's afraid to go in the tack room when it's dark because we think mice are hiding in there.

Hey Maddie, the blackout was fun (not) but my cell phone was a great light source until that car saved us...good thing no one was hurt!! I love the blog. Can't wait for more posts ;-)

I've never been through a blackout in a barn, although I think Doc would flip out, in his stall at the barn in Herriman, they have to leave the lights on in his row all night or else he pounds on the stall door and whinnies all night. And since the stable hand lives there and the trainer lives outside in a house close to the barn, that wouldn't be a very pleasant lullaby!
